Frequently Asked Questions

Or should we rather say, the questions we'd like to hear

How can I get PhotoTeleport?

The beta release of PhotoTeleport can currently be freely downloaded from our website’s front page.

Eventually, once a stable version has been compiled, the plan is to remove the download button and start selling PhotoTeleport on this website and possibly other software stores. However, nothing is set on stone.

Under which license is PhotoTeleport distributed?

PhotoTeleport is free software, distributed under the GPLv3 license.

Where's the source code?

The source code is right here.

Can I freely share PhotoTeleport with my friends?

While you can actually share it with anyone, and even resell it, please keep in mind that the future developments of PhotoTeleport largely depend on how sustainable it is.

So, feel free to share it, but don’t forget to encourage your friends to financially support us. :-)

What services are supported?

At the moment, PhotoTeleport has plugins for DepositPhotos, DeviantArt, Facebook, Flickr, Google Photos, Imgur, Shutterstock, SmugMug, VK, and generic (S)FTP services. A plugin for 500px is nearly complete and we’ll be available soon.

If your favourite service is missing, you are very welcome to contact us.

Can PhotoTeleport export to Instagram?

In theory, it can. We even had a working plugin some time ago. Unfortunately, Facebook (who owns Instagram) doesn’t offer a public API to post to Instagram, and forbids using its private API. The author of the library we were using to post to instagram received a “Cease and desist” letter from Facebook’s lawyers and had to remove his software from the internet. We chose to do the same.

However, the code has been on the net for quite some time, and some people have copied it. So we don’t exclude that someday someone will publish an Instagram plugin for PhotoTeleport.

How can I get notified of updates?

At the moment, no update mechanism has been built in PhotoTeleport. We recommend that you follow our blog (yes, this site has an RSS feed!) and update your version whenever a new release is announced.
